Hello shredders
Well as the headline probably tells, ive broken through a major pushup barrier today.
Ive been stuck at 43 for some time now and always lacked the motivation to give it my all on the max out sets as i wasnt really making progress.
I did 50 in one set today, which is a great archievement for me.
This also means that ive completed the original pushup challenge and doubled my total pushup count.
The trick to breaking this barrier was actually really simple and just in my mind.
The problem is, that you measure yourself by your past performances, and expect something similar. So in the mind, when i reach my last records count, i automatically think, that that must be the limit.
I read that you should go at it calmly and just count in steps of 10's.
If you already managed 40 pushups or so you are a bit intimidated by the big number and think automatically that its your limit.
But if your keep thinking: "just 10 more, just 10 more......ect.", you dont perceive how large the actual accomplishment is and can give it your all.
Also it keeps your mind less cluttered with the counting the large numbers, and lets you concentrate more on the actual pushups.
(with all this i dont mean that you take a break after every 10, i just mean that when you reach 10, you start counting from one again. In the back of your mind you know how many times you did the 10, but your not focused on that, but on the 10 your doing at the moment.)
I went to the gym again today, and had a great workout.
Im up to 6 chin/pull ups now, and advancing quickly. The home-pull up bar was a great investment.
Also as interest sems to be lacking to be honest, im going to cancel out all but 2 challenges.
My own 10k challenge will be cancelled, as i want to take a different approach at improving the pushups now. I want to make my pushup training sessions more intense over a short period of time, instead of doing sets of 25 every half an hour or so.
The 5 and 2 k challenges are also cancelled, as noone has shown interest in joining up. Also I will be closing the weekly challenge, for the same reason. If noone competes, its useless.
The 2 challenges that will remain active, are the "max-pushups in one set" challenge and the 3000 challenge that juli is participating in. Thanks juli by the way for beeing part of this.
Also i will not be putting this under my post anymore, but on the side. Just look to the top right of the screen.
Well thats all for today.
Shred On everyone.
Good Night
Danny

Hey Danny, congrats on completing your double max pushup challenge! I'll be resuming my participation in that particular challenge, now that I'm on a somewhat lower training volume for growth. I really did not want to do the 10k/5k/2k as I'm do not want to create an imbalance with my back.
BTW, you're looking better and better!
thx ron, and yeah i know what you mean with creating the imbalance.
A friend of mine has the same problem, with back pain and barely exercises his midsection due to that.
look at the concept of: www.hundredpushups.com
its a small, compact workout and will cost you 30 min a week max. Just a little more intense than regular pushups.
