Good day Shredders
It feels like a continuation of my last post, seeing what im writing.
As you already guessed, yes, it rained again today.
That kind of sabotaged my cycling plan I had in the morning.
I waited till noon, for it to get better, when I just took the risk, filled the tires with air, and went for my ride.
I conclude from today's biking session, that i am not much of a gambler, as the rain only continued getting harder, and soaked me even worse than yesterday, even though i was wearing a jacket as well today. A true downpour.
But fortunately, that didnt stop me from reaching my goal today, even though my body temperature dropped considerably over the nearly 2 hours of wet cycling. I rid for 35 km today, topping yesterdays efforts by 13 km's.
I pray for some sun soon, as Im helpless without my treadmill.
We do have a stationary bicycle here, however from all fitness machines, it is the one i dread most.
The reason I used the treadmill, and why I dont pretend to run on the spot, it because I am really making ground, even if only on the band. I makes me feel like im moving. Only now that it is busted, I notice how much I liked this exellent piece of technology.
I always liked riding my bycicle, as I was moving and actually seeing everything around me.
The feeling of movement is very important for me when it comes to my cardio.
However sitting on the stationary bike, facing a wall, not even seeing wheels moving, and not moving generates a terrible feeling of making no progress.
With the treadmill, I was able to see how far I was on the lap, and challenged myself constantly to up it to certain marks on the lap. It came so far, that i ended up running the better part of most laps on my challenging speed and not my planned speed.
With a real bycicle its the same, as you can use your sorroundings.
As I have experienced many times, from childhood till now, is that when you are riding or running, you take challenges. Thoughts like " Ill run/cycle as fast as I can till that tree" or, " till that car passes by me(me beeing on a sidewalk), ill reach a certain roadmark, like a streetsign, a drain or even random things laying on the sidewalk."
I know, that these examples might seem a bit childish, but essentially, it keeps you challenging yourself all of the time. Also It was always fun. Why should such kind of things be dumb or unhelpfull, just because its fun? I personally feel that I am much more Productive, when I am enjoying something.
Well back to my day.
I did a bit of core training, as my legs were (and still are) exhauster, and its hard to work on a plank with sore legs.
I completed my pull up training today and did a light session of ABS training, as most of of my ABS exercises involve me moving and lifint my legs.
I tried out something else with the dumbells today.
I took my 10 kg dumbell and started lifiting it 3 times and then passing it to the other hand before doing another 3. Then i passed it back without any rest and it started all over again.
I kept doing this till my arms were really exhausted.
I know, that it resembles lactic acid training, even if i never go to my max. However the rest for each individual arm is around 5 seconds and should load up my arms continually.
If you have an idea about how well this works, please leave a comment ^^
I stuck to my nutrition today and had my 3 litres of water as well.
I looked over my pictures sofar today and saw only so much progress, even though the weight i lost should have shown more of a difference.
I also noticed, that every morning my stomache is alot less round and my abs somewhat more visible. I though that it was the food for most of the time, however now I know my error.
Right before taking the picture, i usually had about 1.5 litres of my water, in my stomache, that was actually visible. You know what im talking about if you canshake your ctomache and hear the water spach around in there.
Therefor, I decided that I would take my daily pictures in the early morining, before eating or drinking. I can see a big difference when I get up in the morining, if i compare it to the other mornings before.
So i thought, it might be more appropiate to go with the morning picture, that i post later that day with my dayly post.
Henceforth, there is no daily picture today.
Im going to start this thing tomorrow morning, and take pictures for day 9 then.
Well, thats it from me for today.
Thanks for all the helpfull comments recently by the way.
Good night
Shred on

Hey Danny, great to see your determination!
I agree, it's no fun using the stationary bike especially if you know the feeling of riding a real bike.
I agree with your comment regarding taking pictures in the morning. I myself have been taking my pics after workout, and I tend to drink a lot of fluid during and after, so I feel somewhat bloated in my pics! I'll try to take my pics in the morning as well.
Ron
thanks for the comment ron.
Good to know that the picture in the morning idea is not such a bad idea afterall.

Danny, great attitude and nice job trying different things.
Hi Danny-I play the same lille mind games with myself while exercising...I actually try to do something similar while on a treadmill or stationary bike...I'll put my ipod on shuffle, and commit myself to a speed or incline for the duation of the next song, whatever it is..sometimes it's a short song..sometimes, I am stuck running at 8.0 for the duration of I Will Survive...which drags on and on...hey, but it works. Hope the rain clears quickly!
Thanks for the comments michael and meredith.
Meredith, i like listening to music, but primarily to relax.
When running or cycling, its mostly distracting for me.
Also for me its more of a visiual thing, and with the stationary bike there is nothing to see.
With the treadmill, i can at least see the band moving and the dots, telling me how far i am on my lap.
I set up my laptop once for running.
I left it on, and found it more disatacting than the shound of my own steps. I dont know if im strange, but when im doing any kind of cardio, im either focusing on my breathing constantly(in though nose, out though mouth, deep breaths) or i am thinking and planning more workouts.
I heard my storts teacher mention once, that if your heartbeat is heightened, you are more capable of learning, and quick thinking.
Its true for me ^^ I usually try to do the math and figure out what percentage of my workout i have done on the treadmill, what is the averge speed sofar, how long will it take me to complete my cardio, based on time sofar, what do i have to do to get an even more intense workout than i am already doing... etc.
Bottom line for me, is that with music i cant really concentrate on my running and cardio rituals.
I like my properly proportioned slices of silence ^^
